Steganography has long been the art and science for hiding information in openable contents or materials. Beyond being capable of protecting the data, it can conceal the behavior of secret communication or data storage. Nowadays, with the rapid development of both the multimedia application and communication networks, steganography becomes more and more feasible to be applied. The research on it is very hot in the field of information security. Many researchers have proposed their algorithms and schemes of steganography, and more programmers developed their tools. Hundreds of the tools can be downloaded from the Internet. In the two decades, however, the reported users of steganography have been mostly the spies, malwares, and information stealers. As a result, the situation is seriously worried by governments, employers, and even common computer users.
Blind steganalysis means the way of detecting steganography by analyzing the suspicious contents without much a priori knowledge of the steganographic methods used by potential opponents. It is extremely challenging but urgently needed! To battle against the misuse of steganography, our group, with our cooperative team from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, has been developing an open platform for blind steganalysis for almost ten years. Although the platform, named Bei-Shang Open Platform for Steganalysis (BOPS), is still in developing stage, we open it at the following link to gather feedback and seek investment or cooperation. People can first create an account and upload the suspicious files of images, videos, audios and documents in supported formats, one by one or in batch. And then he or she will acquire a detection report about the media.
It must be stated that the platform is being used for scientific research at this time. It can be more or less useful but the detection results can only be used as a kind of reference data or estimation. Even scientific ways of blind steganalysis might give only estimation.
