Lab Introduction

The wide use of multimedia introduces new security issues. Noticeably, copyright violation, which leads to the spread of pirated multimedia, has been concerned by content industry for many years. By contrast, people may not know that the wide spread of multimedia gives digital criminals covert communication channels, which challenges current security protection or investigation technologies. In addition, with the development of multimedia editing tools, the contents can be unperceivably manipulated or tampered. It makes the judicial use of multimedia proofs more difficult.

Although the technologies of multimedia security, such as watermarking, steganography, steganalysis, and content forensics, have been researched and developed worldwide for many years, a series of problems still exist. To further advance both the research and applications, Laboratory of Multimedia Security and Intelligent Analysis (LMSIA) . The lab is with the Institute of Information Engineering (IIE), Chinese Academy of Sciences, and led by Prof. Xianfeng Zhao. It focuses on the following areas:

LMSIA has about 8 faculty members and 30 graduate students. It is equipped with many advanced computing devices and developing tools. In recent 5 years, the lab has been in charge of more than 20 research projects in the above areas. The members of it have published more than 150 papers and owned or applied more than 30 patents. Most of the research fruits have been successfully used by the industry and government.

LMSIA is dedicated to building a platform for anyone who is interested in the above areas. Hence, all experts, scholars, and practitioners are welcome to exchange their experiences or idea with us or join our lab! People in LMSIA always take delight in both solving research problems and applying the technologies in the real word.
